The Maths Maestro way will challenge convention and open your mind to better and faster techniques at solving mathematical problems.

The First Step program is offered starting from a special discounted rate of AUD$90, which combines the Subtraction, Multiplication and Long Division courses. Most students who learn from one of these fundamental courses are almost certain to want to try the other one, so why not learn all and save money!

Although The First Step program consists of the most basic of our courses, it is a fundamental building block of our "Challenge Convention" philosophy. Anyone of all ages and any level of mathematical knowledge are encouraged to join the revolution!

Why not use a calculator?

Some people might ask, why does anyone need to subtract numbers or multiply numbers when we have calculators? Simple! A calculator cannot think for you! A calculator is only a tool. You still need to understand the underlying mathematics before it can be useful.

For example, we asked students to take out their calculators. We got them to tap the buttons as we gave them a problem. "Three plus two times four equals..." Some students answered 20, some said 11. So which answer is correct? Why do calculators give two different answers when you press the same buttons?

One of the reasons is because there is an order of precedence for mathematical operations. This refers to which operations should be performed in what order. For example, you multiply and divide before you add or subtract. Some calculators know this; some don't. This is why it is essential for anyone who wants to be good at maths to have a strong mathematical foundation. And what's more exciting than learning the most effective and efficient way to do it!
